Ive seen the MSNBC hype machine in operation too many times. Remember the non-bombshell on the taxes?

(7,522 posts)Funny she's being preemptively attacked for something she never claimed. She's good at connecting the dots and that's what I expect tonight. I haven't seen anyplace else on the MSM, or any media outlets, do this. It is necessary because, as you write, it is a complicated tale and I would like to see the dossier taken more seriously..

Is THAT the message being conveyed?

(14,565 posts)Every time I try to give Rachel the benefit of a doubt it's nothing but the same style, same expressions, same repetitions, and same lack of understanding toward how much something is worth in the big picture. I can't respect someone whose instincts are so poor, no matter how hard she obviously works at it and even though I share her partisanship.
I enjoy all the other MSNBC night time hosts but Rachel is an automatic departure to CNN or elsewhere.
I can't interact with someone who has such a weird hatitude. bye.

(22,976 posts)She has an analytical mind, and she comes at issues from oblique angles, but she always nails her points with deadeye accuracy. She will take you into the weeds, no question, but she's been working harder than anyone in pulling together information regarding the principals involved in the extraordinarily complex Russian collusion, money laundering, etc. I find her style engaging and even comforting, in that at least someone in the media has a bead on what's occurring in genuine reality. (Chris Hayes and Lawrence O'Donnell are excellent, as well.)
Your distaste for Rachel puts you in a microscopic minority of Democrats/progressives, but to each his own.

(29,322 posts)Vice news tonight sometimes but I make sure to see every Rachel Maddow report and there is a recent book out it is good thing to talk about the dossier. People don't know what they're missing.

VOX
(22,976 posts)We can call them dumb, misinformed, "low-information," etc., but where they beat Democrats/progressives time and again is in discipline-- staying on message (no matter how false it is) and sticking together, no matter how insane their candidates or mouthpieces are, and they rarely shift their positions on issues.
It's a major tactical advantage that we lack.

(8,168 posts)"Sorry not allowed, and no, I'm not giving you the unlock code"
I don't want to be anything like the low-brow zombies, but I do wish people could at least be pragmatic - Maddow is one of the best there is and I've already put two people on ignore in this thread for undercutting her - I don't want loyalty, but undercutting/need for purity is why we lose.
VOX
(22,976 posts)And I give her a ration for it. She's intelligent, college-educated, California born and raised, her late husband was a Phd in inorganic chemistry -- all markers for a potential Democrat. But she's got the Fox/bad news addiction, and her politics have soured accordingly. There are numerous stories like mine, and worse -- families have been torn asunder over that damn channel.
As for Rachel, I don't see how any Democrat/liberal/progressive would not find her to be the absolute all-star, "clean-up hitter" (apologies for the sports analogy) of reporting and fact-finding. It's no accident that she holds down the most-desired 9:00PM EST time slot.
Dems have to perfect their messages/themes/memes the way repubs have. Like it or not, it works.

(20,694 posts)Her experts are the best. She lays out the timing so you can feel the Russian op moves as reactions to revelations that hurt fRump.
Russia was invested in fRump and moved strategically to counter-punch for their asset: fRump. Their timing, down to the minute, gives them away.

(7,522 posts)As I found out about a month ago when there was a thread on it. A number of posters had to ask what it was. So this was a good program as you said for those here and the millions who don't post here. I don't know why some on this thread are trying to minimize it. We need more programs like this in the MSM. We are in a battle for democracy, not just against dump and the repubs.
