He details how the corrupt NY FBI field office, guiliani, Eric prince, "true pundit", and others, through their leaks, lies and straight up obstruction of justice, ended up forcing Comey to send his famous letter to Congress. He did so to hurry up and process Weiner's laptop before the election and report the results, Because the NY field office had been sitting on it for months.
Please read!!

I don't think he even sleeps. He's a true patriot and the country and world REALLY NEED him right now!
I hope when all this is over, he writes a book!

(56,828 posts)a lot of the intel agencies have an over-representation of Republicans/RWers in their ranks- some, like Mueller and Comey - are strictly professional and have integrity, but not all of them.

They won't be apolitical until they replace the stodgy conservatives that follow a mission that is tainted.

(53,794 posts)before investigating the so-called "new" emails. He had to know that letter would be leaked and that it would swing the election to trump.
IMO he was just another partisan hack who was perfectly willing to violate the Hatch Act 12 days before the election.
Remember, he was also investigating trump. He didn't reveal that in his letter. And what professional LEO announces something like that before he investigates.
The investigation quickly found the "new" emails were duplicates.
What was the rush?
There was absolute no need to send that letter unless he himself had the same agenda as the rogue agents.
And who the fuck was in charge of the FBI anyway, him or his underlings, for God's sake. He could have put the hammer down on them at any time if they dared to pressure him.

Sounds to me he knew since he didn't do anything about it.
Hell, it might've been him.
Still a partisan hack to me, plus, since he was in the revealing mode on Oct. 28, 2016, why he didn't disclose the concurrent trump investigation which would've been even-handed as that would've impacted trump's campaign as well.
I'd like to believe he eventually realized his monumental screw up had suborned our election and history, whereupon he consequently tried to redeem himself with his investigation but was thwarted by being fired.
Fuck him and his whole Shakespeareanly-tragic, hoisted-on-his-own-petard-fired ass.
I hope he lives to be 100 and wanders in the desert, occasionally tweeting biblical missives about trump/Mueller in hopes of gaining some sympathy for being instrumental in installing the unfit, chaotic, pussy-grabbing debacle we have in the WH.

(58,785 posts)Abramson's claims have sometimes been found to have very loose, even no, association with facts. This is a recurring pattern, and he is neither a respected nor a really well connected source.
I confess all discussion on this subject is welcome to me because I believe parts of the FBI were obviously involved in throwing the election to the Republicans -- we saw it! -- and that large parts of the MSM are just as obviously protecting them. With any luck this'll be spread enough that right-wing media will have to deny.
But for this, CONSIDER THE SOURCE and don't self-sucker.

(36,865 posts)Writer and recovering graduate student Anne Helen Petersen wrote this on Monday*:
The people sharing the most Fake News in my FB feed aren't Trump Voters. They're lefty academics. WHICH IS SUPER EMBARRASSING.
Anne Helen Petersen (@annehelen) December 4, 2017
Petersen elaborated to say that she was specifically referring to acquaintances posting the work of British quasi-journalist Louise Mensch and New Hampshire writing professor Seth Abramson. Both are key figures in the #Resistance tweetstorm community, and both have been covered and dismantled before, but the recent flurry of news involving Michael Flynn and Trump lawyer John Dowds obstruction-of-justice miniscandal has them cooking again.
Mensch is perhaps most famous for having written in May that the marshal of the Supreme Court had spoken to Donald Trump about his allegedly impending impeachment. (In reality world, the marshal of the Supreme Court is the person who handles security at the Supreme Court building, not an illuminati supercop.) Shes now reporting that, in addition to that still-impending impeachment, Trump has already been indicted a bunch of times. (The indictments are ostensibly under seal.)

I take him with a grain of salt. Also, this article does contain a falsehood: Louise Mensch is not a part of the #Resistance (quite the opposite).

(70,522 posts)27/ But here's what you *really* need to understand: the FBI quickly became aware of this websiteat the highest levelsand *acknowledged*, internally, that the people behind True Pundit had access to intel from *current* FBI agents.
Even *James Comey* was aware of True Pundit.

28/ And it *matters* that James Comey was (a) aware of True Pundit, and (b) believed they had sources within the FBI.
Moreover, it *matters* that he knewand he didthat True Pundit was angling for sources *inside* the Clinton probe, and that Comey's deputy thought he had them.

So Comey knew that the Hillary "dirt" that he went public w/late in the election came from Russia?

(49,013 posts)Well known, but not proven beyond a reasonable down.
Abramson pointing to the public record of that website in his serial tweet is pretty conclusive that there is a tight group of corrupt FBI agents who are rabidly pro-Trump in NYC. But there was lots of circumstantial evidence before.
(Wish he'd just post the article on a site and tweet links. Serial tweets are so lame.)
I do not think Abramson wishes to discredit the whole FBI, just Giuliani's own wolf pack.

(58,785 posts)well known. These people have been too powerful for FBI directors to take down, so just imagine what investigation would turn up.
As for worrying about "optics," or whatever, remember that a nearly half the nation can't name who controls the senate and house, or which is which, and has trouble remembering which party is in power and can't name any politician but the president, including their own congressman.

(36,109 posts)(which also made him the expert mayor by 9/11/2001); that Giuliani headed up the FBI decimation of the Five Crime Families of New York in the 80's (The Pizza Connection investigation that resulted in over 700 indictments in the US and Italy, with near as many convictions); that Comey worked as prosecutor under him in New York.
At one point Mueller decided to move all terrorism work from New York to Washington against Giuliani's urging. I guess that's partly behind why he's kept a sympathetic group after all these years.
For all his silly cross-dress exposure in media, Giuliani has heavy hitter status in law enforcement circles. I'm not sure Giuliani can be discredited.

(9,512 posts)whatever the background story is (and I've been aware of this story for a while), his action had a profound negative effect on the nation. there'e no getting around that. whether it was purposeful, calculated, coerced, or accidental, it was the wrong choice.

(2,034 posts)The anti-Clinton elements in the bureau are the very ones putting on this kabuki act about pro-Clinton agents repeatedly suppressing investigations into her crimes. This explains much of the rabid anti-Clinton messaging that has been infesting social media over the last year or two.

(108,980 posts)I was talking to him on the phone a few months before the election and was shocked to hear him pushing Trump and being so vehemently anti-Hillary. (My Dad was gay, and they had been good friends while he was alive.)
I tried to reason with him but it finally got so bad that I hung up on him. I don't think I've ever hung up on anyone in my life. But before I did that, I heard an earful about why he was so certain Hillary was crooked as hell. He had these retired pals, guys who worked in the NY FBI, and they were feeding him this line of crap. And he had swallowed all the crap and was barfing it all out to me.
Months later I heard that parts of the NY FBI were in the tank with the Russians (helping protect the Russian mobsters there) and with Trump, and then everything fell into place. Those were the kinds of people Dad's friend had been brainwashed by.
I wonder what would have happened if my Dad were still alive when his friend went to the dark side . . .
