There have been many discussions about the art (or, perhaps, so-called art) of the abusers. A recent article described Louis C.K. show which sounds as perverted, more so, as his real time actions. Same it seems with director James Toback "director of psycho sexual films." Thus, in my mind, these two do not deserve to produce and show any of their "arts."
But we saw the movie Wind River several weeks ago, after the Weinstein story came to prominence. He is the executive producer and when we saw his name, at the end, we kinda sigh. It is a great art movie, shedding light on the problem of disappearance of Native American women that no one cares or does anything.
He has produced many art movies that I don't think main stream Hollywood producers would have produced. Thus, in his case, I am willing to separate the art from the artist. Same with Roman Polanski's Chinatown.
Just, puzzled.

(46,202 posts)she had an affair while married to Director Roberto Rossellini and then had a child out-of-wedlock with him. My father was incensed and reveled in his boycott. This was maybe 65 years ago . . . . He couldn't separate the actress from her art.

question everything
(47,537 posts)Yes, I think that in many cases we can bundle the art and the artist together. And I think it is easier with actors since they do not write their lines. The are not the caring individual; they just play one.
This is why I stopped and thought about Weinstein, the producer.
