They have the straight party option at top, people dont know if it overrides a vote for Jones.

(11,605 posts)No hope of fairness and transparency, and then the ridiculous optics of Moore riding in on a horse as if he is Sherif Longmire.
Ugh.

(8,694 posts)Lets say you mark Republican, but cant stomach Moore, If you vote Jones or write in somebody, the Republican vote will over ride it and give it to Moore? Or would it just be tossed?

That's how it should be recorded, but it's Alabama, so who knows.

(50,562 posts)Google Alabama special election ballot and you can see it: one partisan office and a bunch of school board supplemental levies are all that are on the ballot. I cant imagine a lot of people using the straight party ovals, but anything is possible.

(11,960 posts)Acting like this is a nefarious plot to confuse people is ridiculous. Isn't that how straight party voting works in every state?
I am opposed to straight ticket voting being an option because I think it makes it too easy to skip non partisan offices and ballot proposals.
