ICE Off Campus: Alumni & Higher Education Organizing Call -- Indivisible

https://indivisible.actionkit.com/mailings/view/124733

DU'er,

The regime has had higher education in its sights since Trump returned to power -- and now it's unleashing ICE on campuses, too. Just last week, Ellie Aghayeva, an international student at Columbia University, was abducted from her university-owned residence by ICE goons posing as police officers looking for a missing child. That she was quickly released doesn't change the horror and unconstitutionality of ICE's actions.

Fascist regimes collapse if not propped up by their society's pillars of authority, from civil service to education. If that support isn't volunteered, the regime will demand it. The underlying purpose of ICE is to instill enough fear to trigger compliance; on college campuses, that violence is also intended to neutralize a source of authority that threatens Trump's own.

We cannot let Trump's secret police terrorize college students or kneecap higher education. Alumni, concerned neighbors, students' loved ones -- anyone with a connection to a campus community -- has a role to play.

Join next week's ICE Off Campus call to learn what you can do to keep the regime's secret police off campus.

Virtual Event, Wednesday, March 11 6:30pm EST / 3:30pm PST

The call is specifically geared toward folks who may not have a presence on a campus right now, so even if you’re not a current student, faculty, or staff member at a university or college, no problem. We’ll have ways you can help keep students safe from ICE terror.

From day one of ICE's assault on Los Angeles last year, the pro-democracy movement has been standing up, developing systems of defiance, and evolving our tactics as we learn from one another. College students across the country have taken part in anti-ICE actions, on campus and off; now we must stand with them and their institutions.

We hope you can join Indivisible, Stand For Campus Freedom, and our other partners on this important call.

About this event

Since Trump’s return to office, higher education has been under attack – with schools facing pressure from the administration to curtail free speech and academic freedom, eliminate DEI policies as part of admissions, and limit the number of international students. And now colleges and universities are facing yet another pressing threat: ICE enforcement on campus. We’ve seen ICE terrorize our communities, use intimidation tactics on innocent bystanders, and deploy chemical weapons at schools - this dangerous agency has no place on our campuses.

Join Indivisible, Stand For Campus Freedom, the Emergency Campaign to Support Higher Education, and other partners to learn what you can do to keep ICE off campuses. "Everyone has a role to play in ensuring colleges and their communities are safe from ICE. This call is specifically meant for folks who may not have a presence on campus — including alumni, concerned neighbors, and loved ones of someone on campus — but anyone is welcome to attend and take action.
