Biologists kill 4 black bears at Muldoon campground

[link:http://www.ktva.com/story/38678035/biologists-kill-black-bear-at-muldoon-campground|

State biologists have killed four black bears at a campground near Muldoon Road, after reports of bears tearing open tents looking for food.

Ken Marsh, a spokesman for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, said Wednesday afternoon that biologists killed a sow and three cubs at the Centennial Park Campground, off the Glenn Highway near Muldoon.

“Apparently the sow was tearing into a tent with somebody in it when we got the report,” Marsh said.

Doing what comes natural to bears. Did those campers have bear-proof food canisters? I'm betting one of the first humans the bears came into contact with did not.

Sad.

That'll be four bears that won't help repair the damage we've done to Earth and its ecosystems.

There are probably close to 150,000 bears in Alaska....so I think we'll be ok...

This is an in town campground...just a block from residential housing, elementary schools, high schools and shopping center. They killed the cubs too, because if left alone and on their own they can become very problematic.

The lady camper was actually pretty upset that the bears were euthanized...she is kind of an outdoorsey person...

Bears do eat people so when they become aggressive in town...they must go down.
