Trash this forum: Completely remove a particular forum or group, so you never see it again.

Your DU Trash Can just got more powerful. Now you can Trash entire forums and groups so you won't see their posts anywhere on the discussion forums. To trash a particular forum or group, click the Trash button at the top of the page. It looks like this:

When you click the button, you will be presented with two different options:

Hide threads. Selecting this option only removes the forum or group's threads from the Latest page and the Greatest page. The forum or group will still be listed on the Forum & Groups page and in the navigation column on the left side of most pages.

Full trash. Selecting this option removes the forum or group's threads from the Latest page and the Greatest page and also removes the forum or group entirely from the the Forum & Groups page and from the navigation column on the left side of most pages.

If you change your mind after you have trashed a particular forum or group, you can bring it back. Click on "My Account," then click the "Trash Can" tab. This will take you to your Trash Can:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=myaccount&sub=trash

Then click the "Restore" link to show the forum or group again.

Now you have complete control over your Latest Threads page. Use the three drop-down menus on the Latest Threads page to make broad changes to what content appears, and then use the "Trash this forum/group" function to remove specific forums and groups from your Latest Page. Now you can see exactly what you want to see on Democratic Underground.

The function either removes threads from Latest and Greatest or removes the forum/group from your view of the website's navigation. It doesn't prevent you from visiting forums that you have trashed. For example, if you trash GD but directly type in the URL for GD, you will go there no problem. Or if someone posts a link to a thread in a forum or group that you have trashed and you click on the link, you will go to the thread.

Now that would be real power.

There are a couple here that seems like I am being called upon for jury duty almost daily. I will admit, one seems to have settled down recently, but the other is like the energizer bunny.. the petty-ness just keeps going and going and going.....
