RAPID CITY— "Some 57 charges of child abuse and assault reportedly will be filed against the drunken hockey fans who subjected 57 American Indian students to racially-charged taunts the included spraying the students with beer and lacing them with racial slurs, according to unnamed sources.

This news comes on the heels of a meeting held this afternoon, Wednesday, January 28, 2015, in Rapid City, South Dakota with a group of parents of the students, school officials, Oglala Sioux Tribal officials, law enforcement, the general manager of the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center and city officials from Rapid City.

A busload of parents took the one hour and half bus ride and arrived to meet with the Rapid City officials to discuss the incident and to seek justice for their children. Some are calling on the U.S. Attorney’s Office to bring hate crime charges against the perpetrators."

And very sad that the facility did not have the creeps arrested during the game. I called and told them so.

Who would feel safe letting any child go to a venue where beer and racism are allowed to be spewed freely? The facility had no control over the abuse and put those beautiful kids in harm's way by allowing the behavior.

I hope those kids get to sit in the skyboxes for a game. Their group showed wisdom and restraint.

be a popular response, and I am not against assault charges for these jerks, but I would like to hear from the perps. Not to get their "side of the story," because there really is no defensible side.

But I would like to see somebody ask these fools, face to face, maybe one on one in a nonconfrontational mode, "Hey, what's up with assaulting little children with beer and language dudes?" Get behind the protection of the group and the alcohol fueled hate and you might be able to get these guys on a human level and maybe they will think twice about what they actually did. Confrontation and confinement with their like-minded fellows will simply arm their defense mechanisms and is unlikely to effect much change.
