CHICAGO (AP) -- A powerful storm moved from the Plains into the Midwest early Sunday that was expected to dump more than a foot of snow in some places before making its way into New England, where many cities are still digging out from a winter walloping from early last week.
There were blizzard-like conditions in Chicago and other Midwest locales as of mid-morning, which could be bad news for those planning to travel to and from Super Bowl parties later in the day. Forecasters were expecting hazardous driving conditions throughout the region.

(30,745 posts)unless they have an emergency. We are drifted in, and the wind is howling. There is a car in the ditch north of us. It is listing heavily to one side. It will have to stay there for awhile. The snow is still falling, but it is hard to tell, because it is blowing sideways.
Stay home. This is bad. Winter in Northern Illinois can be like that.
