Brian Williams Announces Brief Hiatus from NBC Nightly News

Source: mediaite

Brian Williams announced in an email to NBC News, obtained by Mediaite, that he will be stepping away from the NBC Nightly News desk for a while.

Here’s his full email:

In the midst of a career spent covering and consuming news, it has become painfully apparent to me that I am presently too much a part of the news, due to my actions.

As Managing Editor of NBC Nightly News, I have decided to take myself off of my daily broadcast for the next several days, and Lester Holt has kindly agreed to sit in for me to allow us to adequately deal with this issue. Upon my return, I will continue my career-long effort to be worthy of the trust of those who place their trust in us.

The NY Times just posted this story, Soldiers in Brian Williams’s Group Give Account of 2003 Helicopter Attack

Also, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports, NBC anchor Brian Williams may not have misremembered Katrina flooding after all.

But maybe its better to have a liar you know. All the drama deflects from the real issue that the MSM in its entirety is pablum.

This from 2007. In this interview he says he was in a helicopter that came under attack by Hezbollah in Israel. He also says people he was with died in Katrina. As far as the 2003 Iraq incident he says he was right behind the helicopter that was brought down and could see "down the tubes" of the rocket.

I saw him interviewing W while still in office, and when he asked W what he was reading fro the summer, W said he was reading an "ecolectic" selection of books (without naming one, though he wasn't so creative as to come out with "any of them, all of them&quot . The first time, I thought it was typical W misspeak, but he then repeated it, and Williams still never challenged him on it. OK, I get that Williams is a loyal Republican, but so is Candy Crowley, and in the 2012 debate, she didn't let Willard get away with his phony claim about Obama and Benghazi.

It seems these were the types of stories fed to us by the "embedded" media, especially at the start of the Iraq war in 2003. It made Americans feel good about Bush's War. Remember Jessica Lynch? It was a Defense Department fabrication to create a war hero and would have worked had Lynch not come forward and denied it. Or Pat Tillman? It was all shock and Awe and USA! USA! by the media, including PBS and NPR. Maybe Williams forgot that he was no longer supposed to be slinging propaganda.

I have no doubt that these talking heads are so accustomed to being paid to put spins on stories every day, it must be difficult to stop spinning even when it comes to their own personal experiences. Lyin' Brian has totally consumed himself in his lies. Interesting that overt lies used to go unquestioned in the past but I notice more and more that people are on to the liars pretty fast nowadays. That's why viewership is plummeting for network news shows.

The story that got him in this fix:

Hey, look at me, I'm taking a retired Sergeant-Major to a basketball game and getting us on the big screen.

And that's worthy of national news?

It's turning a national network into your own little facebook page thing.

Hopefully his replacement will be interested in reporting actual news.

On the other hand, Hillary Clinton once claimed to be under fire in that region, and it hasn't hurt her career, so maybe Brian will weather this storm.

One thing's for sure, nobody will miss Williams and his vapid commentary.

not to mention his citing an imaginary publication he pulled from his ass, the Paris Business Review, to claim that the Factor's France boycott had devastated the French economy.

Also, Sean Hannity continues to lie about muslim no-go zones and Donald Trump, who hires imaginary birther investigators, keeps his weekly spot on the network.

Brian Williams sucks, but is nothing compared to what goes on at FOX daily.

The key difference is NBC is holding him accountable, while FOX doubles down on their folks. No surprise - this is, after all, the network who hired proven liar Judy Miller as their media ethics watchdog.

Not once did he say he regretted it, or was sorry it happened. He might as well have said he was sorry it was revealed!! Faux will welcome him with open arms, no need to even pretend he did something wrong. All the "journalists" there are PERFECT. He lost all my respect, I will not watch him again. What else has he lied about, that has not been spoken about yet?
