'Anti-petroleum' movement a growing security threat to Canada, RCMP say

Source: The Globe and Mail

The RCMP has labelled the “anti-petroleum” movement as a growing and violent threat to Canada’s security, raising fears among environmentalists that they face increased surveillance, and possibly worse, under the Harper government’s new terrorism legislation.

In highly charged language that reflects the government’s hostility toward environmental activists, an RCMP intelligence assessment warns that foreign-funded groups are bent on blocking oil sands expansion and pipeline construction, and that the extremists in the movement are willing to resort to violence.

“There is a growing, highly organized and well-financed anti-Canada petroleum movement that consists of peaceful activists, militants and violent extremists who are opposed to society’s reliance on fossil fuels,” concludes the report which is stamped “protected/Canadian eyes only” and is dated Jan. 24, 2014. The report was obtained by Greenpeace.

... The report extolls the value of the oil and gas sector to the Canadian economy, and adds that many environmentalists “claim” that climate change is the most serious global environmental threat, and “claim” it is a direct consequence of human activity and is “reportedly” linked to the use of fossil fuels. It echoes concerns first raised by Finance Minister Joe Oliver that environmental groups are foreign-funded and are working against the interests of Canada by opposing development.

from the United States (specifically the Republicans, Libertarians and the industrialist puppet masters that control them) Canada used to be such a nice place. Wisconsin used to be such a nice place. These assholes have instilled their hate message and inserted themselves in the government to the effect that they are free to rape the environment, leave and move on to the next project. They scapegoat those who are less fortunate and use terrorist tactics to control the populace. I think that the wholesale murder of people of color by police run amok is no different than ISIS, ISIL or Al Qaeda. They're just more efficient.

... that proves THEIR "claim" that this movement is "foreign", they should present it to the Canadian public. Otherwise, perhaps they shouldn't talk quite so loud about the movement's "claims".

They should also come forward with any HARD EVIDENCE they might have to support THEIR "claim" that the Oil and Gas sector of Canada's economy is a net positive for ALL Canadians when one weighs the profits of the few against environmental harms, diseases, etc. shared by the general public. BTW - isn't Canada's Petroleum sector subsidized almost as heavily as ours? Let's include that in our calculations, too.

Why is Steven Harper opposed to CLEAN energy?

Anyone who buys the Musical Ride version of the Mounties is asleep. They are the leg-breakers for TPTB. They always have been, back to the days of Louis Riel.

It's 19th a century solution on its way out a little later. So you can either go with it, or get your ass in gear now.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

It gives a lot more insight into the anti-environmentalism that we see in many 1st World governments today.
