Jamaica decriminalises marijuana use

Jamaica has decriminalised the possession of small amounts of marijuana for personal use.

The country's parliament passed a much-debated law allowing the possession of up to 2oz (57g) of marijuana.

It will also allow for a licensing authority to oversee the medical and scientific uses of the plant.

Marijuana is widely grown in Jamaica and has cultural roots there - but the decriminalisation drive ran into fears of possible sanction from the US.

jamaica was famous for its roadblocks, where the police would shake down tourists for extra cash if caught with a little ganja.

guess they saw the light with it being legalized in the u.s.

6. Went to Negril for a vacation in my 20s

You'd take a bus from Montego bay for the longish drive to the resorts in Negril. Halfway there, the bus would stop at a little roadside bar so you could drink a beer and buy some weed from the guys in the parking lot. At the resorts in Negril, dudes would ride up on little boats and sell you weed right at the beach.

Decriminalized? This was 15 years ago!

I had the bellhop obtain $40 worth of the best that could be found.He came back 20 minutes later with some of the best marijauna I've ever smoked.I've been smoking 50 years so it was surprising at the quality at commercial prices.I guessed the weight at about 38 grams,that came in 2 buds.I asked him later where it was grown.He said on Kings mountain.I have no idea where that is but,If I ever go back I'll ask for king mountain grown.
