WV Senate Leader Says Right-To-Work Bill Dead This Session

Source: WCHS

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Senate Majority Leader Mitch Carmichael said a push to make West Virginia a right-to-work state is dead this session.

The Jackson County Republican, who sponsored a right-to-work bill, made the comments to The Associated Press on Friday.

The proposal would have made it a misdemeanor, punishable by up to a $5,000 fine, to require workers to pay dues to a union. It wouldn't have applied to federal workers.

Employees who don't pay dues still benefit from the union representation.

because the Repugs are making them work without pay and right-to-work state inhabitants may as well be.

Except they're worse than scabs: they're also leeches, riding the coat tails of the union members and reaping the benefits, but completely unwilling to pay what amounts to a pittance in dues.

(Yes, I realize that technically a scab is someone crossing the picket line; I'm using a broader definition)

Is how the right has hi-jacked the language involved with this issue.

Since when does "right-to-work" mean low wages and total submission to the employer?

Kind of like, "Public School Reform" really means Public School Privatization.

Or, "Religious Freedom" means the right to attack and condemn other beliefs without consequence.

Or "Free Trade Deal" means big Corporations get more power over YOU.

Sorry----Just a little OT rant.

That's the ticket have some right to work for less legislation bill that says if a MAJORITY of WORKERS ( 50+1) want and union and want to have UNION DUES go to help fight against the oligarpghy of the paid politicians and the corporation to have a better life it is a criminal act and be punishable with a fine of 5,000 dollars, this speaks volumes of what this says about the republican party in this state, THEY DO NOT SUPPORT THE CONSTITITION of the state and the U.S CONSTITUTION, to a democratic form of elections and representation by a majority of workers, and these citizens keep voting these jerks into office and wonder why there mountain tops are being shredded, water is being destroyed, and benefits are under attack, and being threatened if they don't stand in front of a mine that killed fellow citizens because of some boss and underlings who cut safety for the worker out of the picture as it was reported, who hated UNIONS and it was all about greed and production.
Keep it up WV maybe one day you'll figure out that right wing republicans are not the answer, they don't care about you or for that matter that you are a human being and your core rights, look no further on what happened with water in Charlestown, W.V and the chemical leak, you had no oversight, the list goes on and one.
