Clinton leads Walker in Wisconsin

Source: PPP

PPP's newest Wisconsin poll finds that Scott Walker's recent actions have significantly increased enthusiasm among Republicans in the state for his White House bid- but also left him well behind Hillary Clinton in a potential general election match up.

(...)

Walker's approval numbers have also significantly dipped over the last few months though. Right before the election last fall we found him with a 49/47 approval spread. That's now dropped to 43/52. His numbers with both Democrats and Republicans are pretty much where they were four months ago. But he's seen a large decline with independents- where he was on narrowly positive ground with them before the election at a 48/45 spread, he's now dropped down to 36/57. The new right to work law is likely part of what's causing Walker problems- only 42% of voters support it, pretty much mirroring his approval rating.

Walker trails Hillary Clinton 52/43 in a hypothetical contest. When we tested the same match up in September of 2013, he was only down 49/44. It's not just Clinton that Walker trails though- he would also be down 48/45 when matched against Joe Biden or Elizabeth Warren. For the most part this year we've been finding Biden and Warren trailing even in places where Clinton's leading, but against Walker in Wisconsin they all have an advantage.

Clinton is strong against the entire Republican field in Wisconsin. There's not much evidence from anything in this poll that she's facing any real backlash over the controversy related to her e-mails. The GOP hopeful who comes closest to Clinton in the state is Rand Paul who's still 6 points behind at 48/42. Mike Huckabee trails by 7 at 47/40, Rick Perry and Marco Rubio lag by 8 at 48/40, Chris Christie joins Walker in being down by 9 at 48/39, Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz have a 10 point deficit at 49/39, and Ben Carson's 11 point gap is the greatest at 49/38.

She crushes their whole field in the state, but it's funny her numbers are highest against Walker.

Just shows how much his home state loves him.

for the office of the President of the United States against each other, to see who would come out on top, if the election was held today and if these two people were the only major candidates?

A year and a half prior to the election...

Or maybe, a better question is - just how much 'inevitability' does someone achieve by being one of the two people included as a hypothetical candidate in this sort of polling?

It's only natural that when they got back to Wisconsin, they would test Walker in various match-ups.

This isn't some inevitability conspiracy, just business as usual for one of the nation's best-regarded polling firms, as they've been doing for years.

I'm not even a big Hillary fan, but it's clear Walker is not liked at home these days and is falling fast.

Destroying WI, dismantling the working class, and more uncaring moves against WI so he can keep kissing his Koch's master ring.

His numbers should be closer to Republican lead Congress of 9 to 12 percent. Only a third of Wisconsinites approve of him, yet that seems high given their State being near the worst in most indices under his governorship.

Perhaps corporate run media isn't inorming Wisconsinites how much Walker is destroying any chance for a decent future.

They outspent the opposition and sponsored an ambitious. unscrupulous dimwit.

The excat same thing the energy industry did with Sarah Palin in Alaska.

This is only a preview of America's future given conservative SCOTUS that ruled bribes are free speech and corporations have person-hood.

...it was these same people of the Great State of Wisconsin who put that Kochsucker Walker in office to begin with. I mean if the Dems of Wisconsin out-number Walker-rites, then why are there Walker-rites at all? How can they exist if out-numbered, eh?

- The only conclusion I can draw from this is that some Walker-rites see her as the better Republican in the race......
