NEW HAVEN John G. Rowland, Connecticut's brash ex-governor turned radio commentator, stood humbled again Wednesday in front of a packed courtroom and for the second time in 10 years, was sentenced to prison for political crimes, this time for 30 months..
U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton imposed the sentence on Rowland, who previously served 10 months for corruption that occurred while he was governor.
Arterton, who presided over Rowland's 11-day trial in September and his fruitless attempts over ensuing months to reverse the verdict , also gave Rowland a $35,000 fine and three years probation.
Her sentence was less than the 37 to 46 months in prison that prosecutors wanted, but more than the 18 months or less that his high-priced Washington defense team pleaded for.
By the way, for these crimes he received $35,000 from the Wilson-Foley campaign, just a little more than $1000 per month that he'll be in jail.

Embarrassing that the voters of Connecticut elected him Governor three times.
Coincidentally following his first conviction, he was sentenced on March 18 ten years ago.
He got off easy again this time (prosecutors were looking for 7+ months longer), but at least this time it won't be in a country club atmosphere.
