(27,247 posts)For example, more than 60% of the population of my home county (100,000+) is from other states or even countries. The cost of living is one of the lowest in the country, and the winters are much less severe than in the northern half of the country. There are also a lot of natural areas in the state that are very popular, including the Ozark National Forest(s) and the Buffalo National River.
Arkansas is also the home of Walmart, Tysons, and several other Fortune 500 companies. According to Fortune, "Then theres tiny Arkansas, with population a hair shy of 3 million. Its ascent over the past generation has been faster than any other states. Arkansas added $450 billion in revenues over the past two decades, expanding at 9.4% a year, four points better than the 500 average. The Natural States 500 members created an incredible 1.6 million jobs in 20 years. Thats 76% more than No. 2, California. Yes, Fortune readers will recognize this as mainly a Wal-Mart story: The discounter accounts for almost $400 billion of the states revenue gains and a boatload of jobs both in and out of state. But Arkansas also gained from the fast rise of Tyson Foods (leaping to No. 93 in this years list, from 225 in 1995), and the arrival of Murphy Oil (470) and its spinoff, Murphy USA (175)."

Federal Money should be withheld for any State legislating discrimination & hate for a specific part of our American society.
Separation of Church & State NEEDS to be re-defined & enforced.

At any rate, I don't think that even Michelle Dugger can compete with Westboro Baptist Church, although she did help to kill Fayetteville's anti-discrimination ordinance.

(2,741 posts)in AR-KANSAS haven't paid heed to what has happened so far in Indiana. I reckon reading and reasoning are not respected much by the legislator types in this state.
