ND to join Wyoming lawsuit against federal fracking rules
By JAMES MacPHERSON, Associated Press | March 31, 2015 | Updated: March 31, 2015 3:20pm

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota, whose oil riches have been unlocked by the use of hydraulic fracturing, said Tuesday it will join Wyoming in a lawsuit challenging a new federal rule requiring more information about the process when it's used on U.S. government lands.

The Obama administration announced in March that it will require companies that drill on federal lands to disclose the chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management rule, under consideration for about four years, takes effect in June.

Wyoming and North Dakota believe the move is unlawful in part because it interferes with their own regulations that address the process.
"Our rules are very robust, very stringent and we enforce them," said North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem.

North Dakota will officially join Wyoming's lawsuit on Wednesday, Stenehjem said. That suit alleges the BLM overstepped its jurisdiction with the rules and they conflict with the federal Safe Drinking Water Act. Stenehjem said the BLM does not have authority to regulate hydraulic fracturing and other "underground injections" under that federal law.

NDakota's laws are NOT stringent & they have failed miserably in enforcing them.
This Red State Govt is so cozied up to their Oil God that they have morphed into one giant conglomerate.

From underground radioactive waste dumped in empty sheds to oil & frack water spills that would go totally unnoticed if not for some farmer finally reporting it as he is out checking fence lines days & weeks after the spill has happened.
Those occurrences are mildly reported to the public and never heard of again.
Its only when shit gets so out of hand that some environmental group makes a big stink that the laws are acted upon.
The ND Govt is kissing the behinds of every oil co & contractor & foreign entity that shows up in the Bakken.

Big Oil owns the ND Republican gov't.

Your fracking is already polluting your base water and you've had untold deaths since all this oil drilling went wild...your farm land is being destroyed and polluted as well.

And you just want to let it be a fuck'n free for all.

The number of citizens who have died over the years from cancer (my aunt and uncle who were farmers), most likely from all the toxics fertilizers and pesticides that used to be used, is bad enough...now you want to pollute the waters.

Enjoy your Dead Zone.

They have effed up their soil, their drinking water sources, their fishing & hunting land, and the big GOP corporations & gov't fat cats all belong to the same group who lined their pockets with favors for profits.
With no consideration as to what would be left in the aftermath for current & future generations.

You are spot on in your post.
