Ted Cruz to GOP field at NRA: Prove 'you bled' fighting Barack Obama

Source: Examiner

While addressing some 4,000 NRA members on Friday, Sen. Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican now running for the White House, challenged other Republicans running for office to prove they "bled" standing for principle while fighting Barack Obama, the Washington Examiner reported Saturday. Cruz, Pau Bedard said, mocked candidates in past primaries for being all talk but no action.

"There are a lot of good men and women thinking about running in 2016 and we've been around the block before," Cruz said in a teleprompter-free speech that lasted nearly 20 minutes. "We understand that in a Republican primary and everyone stands up and says, 'Gosh diddley, I'm the most conservative guy who ever lived.'"

But, Cruz added, "somehow actions don't always seem to follow those words." Now, he said, voters need to challenge primary contenders and dare them to "show their wounds," so to speak.

"For far too long politicians have said one thing and done another," he said. "Everyone of us should ask any candidate that shows up in front of you, 'You say you believe these principles, show me. When have you stood up and fought for them, when have you bled for them, and what have you accomplished?'" . . .

I'm in my mid-60s, and have never seen such a demagogue as this. He's doubly dangerous because he's smart. Very smart, and knows exactly what he's doing. When he talks about "bled" while opposing Barack Obama, he knows exactly what he is calling for. And so do we. This is not your normal unhinged right winger. He is playing to primeval instincts here.

This guy is a tea party goon. No way would American vote this Canadian idiot into the white house. (hes not constitutionally fit for the office anyway)

And his daddy is a bark-at-the-moon, 7 mountains raving lunatic as well. He would have to lock dear old dad in a room someplace for the duration of the campaign LOL

There's a big difference between Law School Smarts and Political Smarts. If Cruz had much in the way of Political Smarts, he wouldn't have gone about, alienating as many power figures in D.C. as he possibly could, in such a short time. Sure, he can get a room full of gun militants drooling; let's see how he does in front of the NAACP. His egomania, thug personality, and radical agenda keep getting in the way of his intelligence. I hope it stays that way and that he ends up as just another Republican burn-out.

He's had his eye on the White House since Day One.

He'll have one shot at it. When this is over, he will have burned so many bridges I doubt he could get reelected even in Texas.

he is fortunately appealing to a very narrow segment of the reupkes.

If I were running the democratic party, I'd have had dozens of senators and congresspersons condemn this as a call for violence on whatever news outlet I could reach creating an uproar. That would force mainstream repukes (and other clowns in the clown car) to condemn it as well.

However, spineless democrats abound....

A vote for Gosh Diddley is a vote for state murder.

Smart and ready to burn a country down, win or not. Which is a win for them in either case.

all the red meat he wants. But he's not a political threat in the final analysis. He doesn't have the money, he doesn't have the organization, and he doesn't, by his own definition, have the ability to compromise or to lie about what he really thinks and intends. Among Republican hopefuls, no one but Bush or Romney has the money, the backing and the political acumen to rise above the tea party-sucking scum and actually get enough votes to be nominated or elected.
