Senate leaders nearing trade deal
Source: The Hill
Senate Finance Committee leaders said Thursday they were inching closer to an agreement on legislation that will speed trade deals through Congress.
Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Sen. Ron Wyden (Ore.), the panels top Democrat, each said they were nearing completion of months of tough negotiations to produce a trade promotion authority bill.
Were not quite there but will be very soon, Hatch said ahead of the start of a committee hearing Thursday morning.
Wyden concurred, saying that these had been very challenging negotiations but I do believe we are close to finding common ground.

(23,163 posts)Fucking just say no. This is a HEINOUS DEAL that could kill America's workers by making companies here pay slave rates like they do in the 3rd world, invalidate any and all labor and environmental rules and give a consortium of corporations the power to over-rule all American laws, if their profits are hurt in any way.
No wonder people say there's no difference between the parties. There are WAY too many Democrats who are corporatists first and who care little about working class people. Of course, ALL Repugs think like that, plus the Repugs are also batshit crazy misogynists and racists, so our choices are usually between bad and worse. That's why my family is actively looking into moving to Portugal to get away from the assholery here.

I just do not understand where they think they are going to sell their wares if no one can afford them.
