Indiana Gov. Mike Pence's approval rating tanks over religious law

Source: The Hill

A new poll released on Thursday shows voter support for Gov. Mike Pence (R) in a free fall after the national uproar over Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

The survey found that 46 percent of Hoosiers now disapprove of Pence, the National Journal reported. The marks reflect a roughly 20-point drop from polling conducted earlier in the year.

Though 45 percent still approve of him, it added, the polling agency behind the sampling believes its results are bad news for the governor going forward.

“In the 20 years that HPI has been publishing … an Indiana governor has never experienced this type of survey decline in this short time frame,” said Howey Politics editor Brian Howey.

Howey additionally called the backlash against Pence “significant, if not historic.” Howey Politics published the poll Thursday after partnering with a GOP-affiliated research firm.

You can kiss all those nice dreams of your presidency GOOD-BYE, governor MY-Religion-Trumps-Your-Rights! This will be a bigger stain on your blue dress than anything the Clintons ever had to deal with.

support his dumb ass, and he had to back away from the firestorm he created, it pissed off his allies as well. Couldn't happen to a nicer a**hole. I think every presidential candidate who came out in support of that disaster of a bill should have to own it, and wear it proudly right up through election day.

Summing it up, one smart Republican told us, “He went from dark horse to dead horse about as quickly as anyone I can remember.”

I'm sure he still flatters himself into thinking he was REALLY right on this and he has God on his side and people will forget (well, THAT one part of it could be true, considering this electorate...) and he'll get a free pass. Cuz he's a republi-CON! And he's REALLY right on this and he has God on his side and ...

FUCK YOU, pence. The only way YOU'LL ever get into the White House is as a tourist.

12. Don't mean to change the topic, but opposition to Walker is increasing in Wisconsin

Walker blindsided everyone in the state with cuts that he never even hinted at until he was reelected. People are starting to catch on that his $5 per year cut in property taxes isn't worth gutting the state's k-12 and higher ed systems. Here's a little from the article I linked above.

The poll also showed widespread opposition to Walker's proposal to cut $300 million from the University of Wisconsin System and $127 million from K-12 schools.

Of those polled, 78 percent oppose the school cuts, which Franklin called an "eyecatching level of opinion." GOP lawmakers have already said they hope to restore the $127 million cut.

And 70 percent oppose the proposed UW System cuts, the poll said. Lawmakers have also suggested possible restoration of a portion of the proposed cuts...

He said there has been “little or no talk” about how the budget lowers property taxes and caps UW System undergraduate tuition. The budget lowers property taxes on an average Wisconsin home by $5 in each of the next two years.
