Ray-Ban Asks Rand Paul To Remove Its Shades From His Campaign Store

Source: Talking Points Memo

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) may be at "the intersection of politics and cool" when he wears his signature Ray-Ban Wayfarers, but the sunglass company isn't keen on the presidential candidate slapping his name on its product.

Ray-Ban has asked Paul's campaign to remove "Rand"-branded Wayfarer sunglasses from its online store, The Hill reported Wednesday.

The campaign store also included Ray-Ban sunglasses "indelibly marked with the Rand Brand" at a price of $150. Here's a screenshot of a cached version of the product page:

A spokesperson for Ray-Ban's parent company, Luxottica, told The Hill in an email that Paul's presidential campaign had been selling the sunglasses without the company's consent.

Text of the ridiculous, delusional ad, complete with misspelling of Ray-Ban, which has been removed from the store:

I can hear Senator Bentsen now, "I knew Jack Kennedy and you're no Jack Kennedy." Well, you and I may not be Jack Kennedy, but Rand likes Raybans and now we can all own Rand branded Raybans.

These Rayban Wayfarer sunglasses are the intersection of politics and cool. Order now.

I've worn Ray-Ban Wayfarers for years. Now, I'll feel dirty wearing them.

This idiot is so corrupt and believes he is so above the law.... disgusting.

Same goes with honoring a contract.

I don't think many of them even KNOW that judges are government workers.

5. I wonder if they deliberately misspelled Ray-Ban because they didn't have consent.

Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they were $5.00 fakes.
