Barry Bonds obstruction of justice conviction overturned

Source: KRON 4 TV

San Francisco (KRON) Barry Bonds’ obstruction of justice conviction has been reversed by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which ruled his meandering answer before a grand jury in 2003 was not material to the government’s investigation into steroids distribution.

Bonds was convicted in 2011 of a single count of obstruction by a jury, which deadlocked on three charges he made false statements during his grand jury appearance.

His hat is really, really big now, so it can hold all the money he needs.

My Giants have won 3 world series in 5 years by comparison to your Mets 2 wins.
Hell, what about Mike Piazza,Edgardo Alfonso,Carlos Beltron, and Alex Rodriquez? All were Mets heroes.

With all due respect Sir, don't hate the player, hate the game

And your unsolicited crack about the Mets aside, I personally give less than a fuck about your Giants, but I do appreciate that as a fellow National League team, they at least play real baseball...

Vote totals by year:

2015 Barry Bonds 36.8%
2014 Barry Bonds 34.7%
2014 Barry Bonds 36.2%

Tim Raines will see Cooperstown before Bonds does...Not to mention that for 2016 the HoF ballot will have locks like Mike Piazza, Ken Griffey Jr., Trevor Hoffman, and strong borderline cases like Jeff Bagwell and Curt Schilling...

But hey, don't believe me...Talk to the BBWAA yourself and hear it from them...I'm not saying Bonds *never* gets in, but you're deluding yourself if you think this court decision automatically makes him an instant lock for 2016...I'd bet the house on Bonds not getting in the next six years, at the minimum...

I support Bonds, and you must have a problem with it. That's tough shit, my friend. Go tell your story to someone who gives a damn. Who won the World Series last year?

The Mets are over rated so it's time for you to buzz-off. I find you to be a little annoying.

Since I don't have a HoF vote...

The BBWAA have spoken three years now, and have been pretty consistent...Yeah, they might eventually warm up to him, but it will take a LOT of years...

I know that he's been doing some spring training and one on one training with some of the team members and with players on other teams (most recently, Alex Rodriguez with the Yankees), and he's expressed interest in taking a more formal position. The Giants have unofficially said that they are reluctant to take him on while the court cases were still dragging on. Not only does this ruling end those cases, but it also clears his name from a legal standpoint.

Like it or not, Bonds still has a massive fan following. With his baseball record and a legal record now wiped clean of any wrongdoing, there's little chance that he's going to quietly fade away into the sunset.

My prediction is that we'll see him hired on as a full time trainer first. In a few years, when everyone is used to seeing him again, we'll probably see him offered a coaching job. Ron Wotus has apparently been looking to move up in his career and both the Mariners and the Rays have looked at him recently for head spots, so it's conceivable that the Giants could be looking for a new bench coach in the next couple of years (which would be a loss for the team, as Wotus is awesome at his job). Bringing someone like Bonds in, or moving one of the other coaches into that spot and having Bonds backfill their position, would be massively popular with a large part of the Giants fan base.

As far as I'm concerned.

Bonds' HR stats should be decreased by about 400.
