Mary Pat Christie leaves Wall Street job

Mary Pat Christie, wife of Gov. Christie, has left her job at the Wall Street investment firm Angelo Gordon, a move that comes as the governor considers a 2016 presidential campaign.
"Mrs. Christie has decided to take a hiatus from her work in the finance world to spend more time with her family and young children," Kevin Roberts, a spokesman for the governor, said Friday.
Mary Pat Christie "recently resigned" from Angelo Gordon, where she began working in September 2012 and was a full-time managing director, Roberts said. A spokesman for the firm declined to comment.
In 2013, Mary Pat Christie received $475,874 in income from Angelo Gordon, according to tax returns. The Christies, who reported income totaling $698,838 that year, also reported $34,698 in income from Cantor Fitzgerald, where Mary Pat Christie had worked part time as a bond trader.

I am, of course, not buying the "time to be a traditional wife and mother" routine -- the "young children" are aged 12, 15, 19, and 22 -- helping her husband run for president, she'll be that much busier. I think she quit because HER financial past is being scrutinized, too.

(44,576 posts)I doubt Michelle resigned abruptly while her husband's dealings with her employed are being scrutinized, and it was to take on another job -- helping her husband run for president. There were no ethical or financial clouds looming over her, and she didn't proffer the excuse of her children needing baby tending.

(45,251 posts)Of course, Ms. Christie (or both Christies) has a perfect right to conclude that her children do need her at home after all. Or that she'd rather be home than working. None of that is my point.
I guess I am just tired of politicians using their minor children as cover and I've come to squint whenever I think that might be happening. This is one of the times I'm squinting.
