He is no Third-Way Democrat. In fact, he has been an Independent probably because he couldn't
see eye to eye with that kind of Democrats (of whom there are a lot). He's running as a Democrat
only because he doesn't want to split the Progressives , which would only weaken him. I think he
is a True Blue Progressive. He has never been a fence-sitter.

I've huge mixed emotion about this.

I like what he says and where he stands BUT...While he can kick some ass on HRC, I do not believe he can win the final vote.

I also worry that he'll be "wounded" after a campaign...and we SO need his voice in Congress...same for those pushing for Warren.

We MUST retain the White House.

In my life, I have learned that my expectations about future events can be so pessimistic. I was such a worrier. Taking one say at a time gets you just as far.

Bernie will not be "wounded" after such a campaign. Not if Hillary and her friends play fair. And if they don't, it will be Hillary, not Bernie, who is responsible for what happens.

Bernie Sanders has never run negative ads in order to get elected. He has just done his job well and considered the interests of his constituents.

If there is wounding, it will not be done by Bernie Sanders. This is a test for Hillary's campaign. We shall see.

Our house will strongly support who is most electable because of what is at stake.

And after a small dinner party with 2 Dems (my partner and myself) and 8 Reublicans (who ripped Sanders and Warren new "holes", saying they were crazy...and ranting how bad President Obama is [even the lone black guy there HATES the President...???]) a couple weeks ago, we must have someone electable and that can hopefully draw some cross over votes.

They also hated HRC AND Bush...but had high hopes for Rubio, saying he was fresh, charismatic, young and handsome...unfortunate that all comes into play but it does.

Other countries like Japan and even in some respects, China, most certainly Germany and Sweden are way ahead of us economically in terms of incorporating new technologies like fast trains, etc.

Meanwhile, Fox News Republicans think that Rubio is going to save them.

They are ignorant. Sorry but they are. They have no idea about what is going on beyond Fox News. Their ignorance is destroying America.

It's sad but true. Many of them have no connection to the world outside their communities, maybe a cruise ship or a tour of some country, but no meaningful experience beyond the tiny world they landed in when they were born. They speak no foreign language. They are afraid to talk to people who look different from themselves.

Marco Rubio will appeal to voters on one level. But it is up to us to demonstrate that he will not be good for America. And he would not be.

From Spring gathering up beneath,
Whose mild winds shake the elder brake,

He will present genuine leftist strategies that will be effective for our country to move forward.

I hope he's in televised debates with Hillary and other candidates. That helps me form my decisions, plus I love watching them. I'm very interested in longer type debates and I also really wish the League of Women Voters could get back involved. I read here at DU, in another thread, that they no longer sponsor debates and I think that's a real shame. I'd love to see them feel comfortable enough getting back involved in sponsoring debates.

My other hope is that his candidacy encourages more people to vote. Not only in the primaries and general election, but to vote in state and local and congressional elections, where we need all the progressive support we can get.

Next on my dream list: Barbara Lee from California.
