Wis. Gov. Walker raises $13M for recall election

Source: USA Today

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker raised a whopping $13.2 million since January to fight a recall bid, in a sign of the high-stakes battle over his leadership.

The Journal-Sentinel reported the embattled Republican's fundraising is "unprecedented" for a political candidate in Wisconsin. Walker has $4.9 million cash on hand, dwarfing what's in the bank account of his top Democratic rivals, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and former Dane County executive Kathleen Falk.

The Democratic primary is May 8.

Walker is under fire for his handling of state budget issues, especially his push to curb collective bargaining for public employees. Unions are big players in the recall election.

fund raising potential for the upcoming election year because it will cause them to have to spend even more money now if they want to beat walker which they want to do rather than wait for the upcoming elections.

A vile beast with many arms.

I sure hope the people of Wisconsin can get rid of him. I thought it was utterly amazing that they got a million signatures on the recall petitions.

on that little prick?

Is there any air time in Wisconsin not airing a walker ad?

Thirteen million down a rat hole. Imagine those funds being used for good rather than imposing a RW agenda on people.

11. AP is reporting the number to be $25m. Article: Walker Has Fundraising Advantage, Superstar Status

(05-01) 15:57 PDT MILWAUKEE (AP) --

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has raised more than $25 million to defend his job, drawing heavily from prominent GOP players outside the state and dwarfing the amounts raised by his Democratic challengers.

Other groups are contributing millions more in advertising. And Walker has leading Republicans campaigning for him, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

The governor's fundraising firepower and his broad support among the GOP elite illustrate the challenge facing his opponents. The Democrats who swarmed the state Capitol last year to protest Walker's assault on public unions now have only a month before a historic recall election to counterpunch Republicans who have rallied strongly behind their Wisconsin superstar.
