Intern arrested for allegedly bringing gun to House office building

Source: The Hill

Capitol police arrested an intern for Kansas Rep. Lynn Jenkins, a top member of the Republican conference, on Monday morning for allegedly bringing an unloaded handgun into the Longworth House Office Building.

Police said they found the weapon, an unloaded Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun, during the routine search that all visitors undergo at the entrance of the office building.

The authorities arrested Joshua Wheeler, a 25-year-old Kansas man working as a paid intern in Jenkins's office, on charges of carrying the gun without a license and for possessing an unregistered firearm.

"Mr. Wheeler used poor judgment and was immediately placed on temporary leave," Tom Brandt, a Jenkins spokesman, told The Hill.

Anyone who works in DC should know better than this.

Why the hell did this man think he needed to bring a gun to the office building?

Anyone with half a brain knows that bringing an unregistered gun to DC is a bad idea, and to try to bring into a Federal building?

...want you to be able to carry in a bar, a church, a coffee shop, a Presidential address, a grammar school...

but hell to the no with carrying where THEY work. That's "poor judgment."

That seems logical...

Mr. Wheeler's legislative job path may be a little clogged, but the NRA's office isn't that far away. Polish up the ol' resume, Josh: opportunity awaits......

republican interns. Temporary leave, sounds like they want to keep him. Just waiting for the next shiny thing to come along and reinstate him.

guns in other places but not in the place where they are legislated.

if guns are so good and if the 2A is so definitive, why not have guns in all legislatures and supreme court hearing and in all NRA offices. open carry there.
