McKinney, Texas, Officer on Leave After Wild Pool Party Video Surfaces
by Jacquellena Carrero

A police officer in McKinney, Texas, has been placed on administrative leave after a video surfaced showing him aggressively confronting teens at a pool party on Friday evening.

Police officers were first called to the scene around 7:15 pm local time to respond to a disturbance at the Craig Ranch Community pool in the Dallas area.

According to a statement released by the McKinney Police Department, officers who arrived on scene "encountered a large crowd that refused to comply with police commands."

A video recorded by one attendee at the party showed an officer wrestling a bikini clad woman to the ground. In another part of the video, the officer pulls his gun on a group of teenagers.

I grew up in a union household.

I belonged to several unions over the course of various jobs.

The result of broad labor union efforts has greatly benefited me growing up and as an adult.

And...

There's something wrong with police unions that are hellbent on making it difficult to cull the bad apples. If cops, in general, want to demonstrate that episodes like this are because there are some "bad apples" in the group - then stop f'ing defending the bad apples. Let them get fired. Let this join the unemployed (and hopefully unemployable in law enforcement anywhere).

I know I'm projecting likely action on the local union and, IIRC, the local union response to every video like this we've seen in recent months/years has been something like "the video didn't tell the whole story and we stand by our member".

How many videos do we have to see to get the whole story.

Sheesh this is getting old.

That ahole, out-of-control cop should be fired for escalating the situation four fold — the cursing at the kids, the cuffing of two boys who were doing nothing, the body slamming of the young girl, and finally the pulling of his gun at the boys who tried to help the girl he manhandled.

Fire his ass!

He doesn't have the disposition/temper to be trusted with a gun.

A white woman at the pool started making racist comments, Thomas said, such as telling black teens at the party to get used to the bars outside the pool because that’s all they were going to see.

Grace Stone, 14, who is white, told BuzzFeed News that she and friends objected to an adult woman making racist comments to other teens at the party and that the woman turned violent.

just as bad as calling the police to report a man looking at a toy gun in walmart, maybe to buy for a relative ending up dead because of some asshole with a racist agenda. Nothing will happen to this 'adult' from the privileged sector. Free speech for a fox snoozer and all.... This shit is getting real old.

Facebook friends and family – PLEASE HELP! That (now viral) video of the officer in McKinney subduing a girl in a bathing suit was in OUR neighborhood. The situation was NOT what is being reported…

A DJ setup in a public space next to the private pool in our neighborhood on Friday and played loud explicit (F-bomb) music for multiple hours (it is unclear if he was invited by a resident as no one has claimed responsibility). The teenagers (both black and white) were being brought into our neighborhood by the carload because the DJ was tweeting out invites to a “pool party” for $15 (obviously unauthorized by our neighborhood). The teens began fighting with each other and pushing their way into our private pool. Some were jumping our fence. The security guard was accosted when he tried to stop the beginnings of this mob scene. Some residents who live around the park/pool area tried to come out and settle things down. The teens started yelling racial slurs at our neighbors and started assaulting people and property (throwing bottles at cars and attacking a mother at the pool with 3 young children). The first officer on the scene was by himself. At that time, the party had grown to a large, aggressive crowd. As the officer arrived, many teens started running through our neighborhood. Many of the teens were being very aggressive and yelling at the officers as more arrived.

This was a very dangerous situation for the officers AND the teens/residents not involved. The news media has refused to hear the neighborhood’s side of this story. The video being distributed is only a very small segment of what happened. This information being distributed by the media and others is extremely distorted and in some cases outright lies.

PLEASE HELP US STOP THE BROADCASTING OF THIS IGNORANCE. The media is trying to make it look like our neighborhood is a white’s only, racist area. Anyone who has spent even a few minutes in our area knows this is an outright LIE.

The unfortunate result is that our neighbors are now being threatened. We have also had cars and property in and around the park area vandalized this weekend. Unfortunately, the press and social media are trying to enflame the situation.

I am asking for your help for my family and my neighbor’s safety…PLEASE, PLEASE do not rebroadcast any of these lies.

So the music was going on for hours with profanity and no one called in a noise complaint? And how did they know about the tweets?

And it has nothing to do with the cop manhandling a young girl and waving his gun around like a lunatic.

So much fail in that message.

were black and acting thuggish.... those goddamn cops were, typically when it comes to POC, overly aggressive and out of control. And the sad part is that after the smoke clears, all of those badges will be back out on the streets treating POC the same way. Protect and serve, what a crock of putrid shit.

I haven't heard anything about the kids causing trouble or blazing their own guns so the fact that the cop pulled out his own piece to a bunch of kids is not only excessive, it's straight up paranoia. He needs to be barred from serving again.

Especially the girls in swim suits. Where did he think they might have a weapon that he needed to take his gun out? That was awful.

He didn't need to do that commando roll thing in the beginning or rough those kids up that way either. NONE of that was necessary. The guy the other cops brought back looked like he had blood all in his mouth. He kept trying to spit the blood out on the grass while that cop finally got off that girl's back, literally, and went over to those other guys to talk crap to them for a while. That cop needs to be on a do not hire list nationwide and in any other country that doesn't want out of control cops that cannot be trusted with a gun.

Troubled Waters in McKinney, Texas

Kids of all races were using a public pool in the "white" side of town, someone called the police, and the cops overreacted, as usual. Here is de facto segregation at work. "You people don't belong here."

Post-racial America my ass.

First, it wasn't a neighborhood pool in the sence it is ooen access, it is a private HOA pool.

Second, apparently rave organized sent out twitter invites listing this pool as the location. When people showed up, only to be told by security that it was a private facility, the young folks didn't take it well.

I have little doubt racist slurs hadd been hurled in both directions. However, the black residents of the HOA see to be more pissed at the abortive rave crashing their pool.

I'm withholding judgement in everything not related to a cop over reacting.

There's no evidence tweets were sent out.

According to witnesses, both black and white, a white woman started with the racial comments.

So much fail in your post.
