Texas Teacher Fired After Disturbingly Racist Post In Response To Pool Party Incident

Source: Huffington Post

A teacher has been "relieved of her teaching duties" after posting a racist Facebook rant in response to recent events at a McKinney, Texas, pool party, according to a statement from Frenship Independent School District.

Karen Fitzgibbons was a fourth-grade teacher a Bennett Elementary school of Frenship ISD in Wolfforth, Texas. On Tuesday, she posted an article to her page about Eric Casebolt, a police officer who recently resigned after being involved in a racially charged incident last Friday. Casebolt, who is white, was caught on tape throwing a black, bikini-clad teenage girl to the ground when responding to reports of a disturbance at a community pool. He also pointed his gun at other youths.

"This makes me ANGRY!" reads the post from Fitzgibbons, referring to Casebolt's resignation, according to Texas outlet the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. "This officer should not have to resign. I'm going to just go ahead and say it...the blacks are the ones causing the problems and this 'racial tension.' I guess that's what happens when you flunk out of school and have no education."'

The post continues, "I’m sure their parents are just as guilty for not knowing what their kids were doing; or knew it and didn’t care. I’m almost to the point of wanting them all segregated on one side of town so they can hurt each other and leave the innocent people alone. Maybe the 50s and 60s were really on to something. Now, let the bashing of my true and honest opinion begin....GO!

He resigned and admitted that he was out of line. He explained that he had been on two suicide calls earlier and had become emotionally shaky to the point of losing control.

I can't wait to see where she lands as an "educator" next.

Some people cannot contain their racist hate anymore. They feel empowered by the vocal wave of racist since the president was elected, and now think they're opinions are mainstream. At least we're getting a tally of just how many racist are out there.

Frenship ISD teacher apologizes after McKinney-related segregation post

Frenship teacher 'relieved of her teaching duties' over segregation post

Frenship ISD is in the predominately wealthy and white portion of Lubbock. The comments at the links are also interesting with one person defending white separatist policies.

Why do they always have to say "to the people I have offended"? Shouldn't that be all of us? Why are they not sorry for what they said, regardless whom it may have offended? These are the most insincere apologizes always!

That being said, I am sure she will have no problem finding another job indoctrinating the youth with these racist stereotypes in "the great state of Texas" ( ).

Again, why don't we let them secede? My apologize to the progressives who live in the state.

if she had her way besides being segregating POC she'd want us back in the cotton fields, serving massa in the 'big house and making babies for more profit. I am glad she's fired. Hope she loses her house and everything she ever worked for.

And she said it in a place, that was too public to say it. (in my opinion). Many others say stupid and ignorant things, lie, exaggerate and hurt more than this person. And do not get fired.. (It was a public comment, but just a comment)
Was she competent? Were these ideas ever expressed in her work? What else has she done?.. Was this person a caring teacher?

Yes, she was a stupid insensitive facebook poster, (not the first, and not the last) but someone said that what the cop did was worse than what she wrote. .I am not sure about that..Saying something stupid on Facebook, is not the same as abusing authority as a policeman.

Stupid comments others post on Facebook are completely irrelevant imo, though I would expect anyone making such comments about black people to be fired too unless they work for a clearly racist organization. Her comments go far beyond insensitivity into KKK territory. Beyond just the moral argument and the thought that she is not capable of providing quality education to children with that attitude, a teacher expressing such a racist attitude would be a serious liability to the school if she stayed on the payroll.

All of which is necessary to be a teacher and in a position of influence on children in a classroom.

She was entitled to her opinion regarding the episode. She had a right to be angry. She had a right to be empathetic towards the police officer she felt was wronged. But devoid of any lack of wisdom, judgment and sense of self control; when angry, she sat down and logged onto her Facebook about and spewed out a bunch of racist stereotypical bullcrap, which she knew would become part of the public domain and said that she didn't care. In fact she was proud of the fact that she did what she did, and in fact said so. So there as she put it.

Having made her bed, than she should lay in it. Thank goodness that great state of Texas is not a right to work state.
