LINCOLN On the same day Nebraska expected to get lethal injection drugs from India, a state prison official said Thursday that the shipment had not yet been sent.
A new delivery date for the disputed lethal drugs has yet to be determined, said James Foster, spokesman for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.
Meanwhile, the Indian pharmaceutical broker has not cashed more than $50,000 in checks Nebraska sent to buy two lethal injection drugs, one of which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration continues to say cant be legally imported.
The department has not canceled their order and has not requested a refund, Taylor Gage, spokesman for Gov. Pete Ricketts, said late Thursday in an email.

(57,134 posts)The sheriff of Thurston county was a bar owner in another county. His wife was the dispatcher and his son was deputy strongly suspected of selling pot that came in through the Pender town airport (with its federally supplied airstrip capable of landing a commercial airliner) and touch and go delivery.
The wife was drunk who in a two or three month period sent the volunteer firemen several times to wrong quadrant of he county. The sheriff was invited to a meeting to discuss a way to prevent this from happening again. He thought he was being invited to dinner. When he was asked the question he got up, told them thy had no authority to question him about anything and left.
His opponents in the next election were one of our three town cops who had rear-ended a parked car one night practicing his "shadowing" techniques and the town cop from Bertram who shot his own car one night walking around a grain silo and thought it was trying to run him down.
The sheriffs association wanting to keep the death penalty only proves its past time to ban it.

(57,134 posts)One night on an intersection where the high school had painted its mascot - a flame breathing dragon - painted, one of the town cops (we had three who wore different uniforms) caught a local guy urinating on the dragon.
"What are you doing there, Bill?"
"I'm putting out the fire!"
And was ticketed. Only to have it thrown out - there was no public urination or exposure law on the books.
Believe it all or not. Its all true. I've got a lot of Pender, Nebraska memories.
NE9 runs through town where we have one traffic light and the sheriff who was feuding with a State Highway Patrolman and banned state officer from being anywhere in town officially except on 9.
