Charleston church shooting suspect, Dylann Roof, charged with nine counts of murder, police say.

The man suspected of shooting dead nine people at an African-American church in Charleston has been charged with nine counts of murder and one weapons possession charge, police say.

Suspect Dylann Roof, 21, is due to make his first court appearance on Friday.

Police are treating the killings at the Emanuel AME Church on Wednesday night in South Carolina as a hate crime.

He was arrested the following day more than 200 miles away in North Carolina and then flown back to Charleston.

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has said Mr Roof should face execution.

4. I am pretty unclear as to the order of prosecution with the federal charges.

Will he be tried at the state level first, then federal? Would he be incarcerated in an SC state prison, or a federal prison if convicted of federal hate crime or terrorism charges? And how does the South Carolina death penalty play into all of this?

'Terrorism, and hate crimes and civil right violations' all fall under federal jurisdiction, don't forget.

Today is only SC throwing the book at him.

5. "American Hate Radio and TV and Republicans Charged as Co-conspirators" is my headline.

That the mass media is even asking "is this terrorism?" or "is this a hate crime?" takes white privilege to a whole another level, the level of Fox.

Put patches from Afghanistan and a crescent moon on a brown man with Nazi car license plates who explicitly provided his motivation from his own mouth and writings and then who just killed 9 people for these explicitly communicated political reasons....what would be the question?

Americans are facing terrorism ever day, and none of it is from across an ocean or at any border.

The mother of terrorism in America are Republicans pandering to extremist religious kooks and their extremist hate media, in a party in a rural state with .97% of the national population which somehow holds sway over one of two slots for President....that has to end also.

I say to you, respectfully, Christians of America, on behalf of Sikhs and Muslims slaughtered by hate and living in fear of the extremists in America, if this is about a "war on Christianity"....how does it feel?

'The mother of terrorism in America are Republicans pandering to extremist religious kooks and their extremist hate media...'

And you can keep dreaming of that headline:
American Hate Radio and TV and Republicans Charged as Co-conspirators

Ce n'est pas pour demain, as they say.

If he didn't know that his son had been charged with a drug-related felony (who posted bail), he certainly know that his son had a drug problem.
