Event plans human wall between Westboro protesters and Charleston funerals

Source: WBAY-TV, ABC affiliate in Green Bay, WI

CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – When news of the Westboro Baptist Church coming to Charleston to protest the funeral services of the nine victims of the Charleston Church Shooting became public, Charlestonians quickly planned a Human Wall Barrier to protect the funerals from the protests.

Westboro Baptist of Topeka, Kan., is a controversial group that has picketed or threatened to picket funerals for soldiers, musicians, Boston Marathon Bombing victims, victims of natural disasters, victims beaten to death for their sexual orientation and more, saying their deaths are God’s punishment . The group carries signs filled with slurs and derogatory words.

On the Facebook event titled “Human Wall Barrier to protect AME funerals,” organizers say they will create a peaceful human barrier between the protesters and the families.

I don't believe in vigilante activities, but I might make an exception for these Westboro people. OK, I wouldn't really do it, but they are just about that annoying. Anyway, the human wall idea is great. I would like to be there and be part of that. You can bet the police will immediately arrest any of the Westboro people who so much as touch anyone in the human wall.

....prohibiting them from demonstrating within 300 feet of the funeral service.

It would be great to see them move a foot closer and all wind up in shackles, hopefully chained to each other.

When 2 Westboro cult members showed up in Times Square to protest marriage equality, the NYPD practically put them in a metal cage "for their own protection." They left after a few minutes anyway.

The Westboro Baptist Church is planning on picketing the funerals of the Charleston shooting victims because in their warped view Rev. and state Sen. Clementa Pinckney “did an evil thing” when he attended a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton. The WBC is picketing the funerals as a warning to people to stay away from Hillary Clinton fundraisers.

Staying true to form.

They thrive off of lawsuits for assault. The family is a lawsuit generating machine. That's where they make their money.

WBC won't be able to confront their intended victims and if they try to get through the human shield they'll be the ones committing assault.

To block views of them from everyone at a funeral. Combine that with the bikers drowning out the WBC hateful yelling and that would keep them keep them from spreading their vitriol.

Or emulate Long Beach where they were mobbed with music, dancing and love!

When they were going to protest a play about the "church" called The Pastor Phelps Project.

http://torontoist.com/2008/08/the_29th_olympic_games_begin/ (that's me in the hat under the God is Love/Hate is Stupid sign!)

Turns out, they got turned away at the border and never made it.

(also, the guy with the "Pastor Phelps leaves a bad taste in my mouth" sign was wearing a lion mask!)

Their whole modus operandi is to picket notable funerals, incite some sort of physical action from the bereaved, and then sue the assailants with their team of attorneys that also just happen to be members of Fred Phelps' family. It's a money-raking scam, and it's apparently still quite lucrative, or they wouldn't still be doing it.
