New plaque marks spot of Wall Street slave market
| June 27, 2015 | Updated: June 27, 2015 2:51pm

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City officials have dedicated a plaque marking the site of an 18th-century slave market on Wall Street.

The plaque commemorates the open-air slave market that operated there from 1711 to 1762.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said at Saturday's dedication ceremony that the slaves played a vital role in building New York City even though their time on earth "literally did not belong to them."

City Council member Jumaane Williams said New York was "built on the backs of slaves."

in poverty.

Probably ought to make sure there is space for another one, to commemorate the time when we learned that we really don't need chains to keep people in servitude.

apparently they got all that wealth from someone who does. Especially those who have stolen from people's labor, with the help of their lapdog politicians, for the past few years.

It's not only the rule in 2015, it has every likelihood of being the same way or worse in 2050. If we live that long.

A new analysis by Zillow finds that the typical renter can no longer afford the median rent in 90 cities across the United States. Many Americans are severely cost-burdened: 4 million working renter households pay more than half of pre-tax income on rent.

Many voters know this, and often laugh at the face of killers who write books about using taxpayers to prop up the wealth of bank$ters, such as here.

This is really good too - because of those policies 68 million working people watched their income fall as 4 million at the top were supported by policy, with the largest drop between 2009 and 2012. A drop which is continuing...

Our heroes often have feet of clay, and all the golden ages looked different to those who were exploited to make them shine. Kudos to those who preserve and disseminate the truth.

African slaves cleared the area and helped build the "wall" that Wall Street is named for. There is NO association with "low wage hourly workers". These people were dragged over here against their free will, got NO PAY, and were FORCED to work or be maimed or killed by the slave owners.

Since corporations are now persons, the Wall Street Casino is buying and selling persons. That's slavery.
