The American Civil Liberties Union of Nebraska and the Nebraska Innocence Project are suing to obtain jailhouse records on behalf of an Omaha man who was convicted of murder in 2009.
In a complaint filed last week in Douglas County District Court, the groups said Douglas County Corrections Director Mark Foxall improperly withheld records related to Antoine Young, who was convicted of gunning down Ray Webb in a Taco Bell drive-through in 2007.
Young, 41, is serving a life sentence for the murder, plus 40 years on a related weapons charge.
In 2010, the Nebraska Supreme Court upheld Youngs conviction, and in 2014 the high court denied his request for DNA testing of a black sweatshirt found at the scene.
