Tom Selleck Accused of Public Water Theft
Source: hollywood reporter
Tom Selleck appears to be in hot water.
Calleguas Municipal Water District filed suit against the actor and wife Jillie Mack on Monday, claiming he used a public hydrant to fill a commercial water truck on 12 different occasions, according to Courthouse News Service.
With the state of California suffering through a serious drought, the water district says that it saw the truck fill up from a hydrant at a Thousand Oaks construction site and then take seven trips in September and October 2013 into the Hidden Valley area that is believed to be Selleck's residence.
Court documents allege that the Blue Bloods star continued filling his tanker even after cease-and-desist notices were sent to two of his Southern California homes.

(20,196 posts)I finally figured my problem with getting glasses that are flattering. I have close set eyes and I'd try on glasses that are just too wide. Once I figured out the problem, I started buying my glasses online.

(20,196 posts)It's the distance from the middle of one pupil to the middle of the other. If you wear prescription lenses, you should be able to get it from your optometrist. If not, there are ways to measure it yourself. For an adult, the PD is usually between 55 and 65 mm. My PD is 56, so it's at the low end. Other than that, a general rule is people with round faces should wear angular frames and people with squarish, angular faces should wear rounded or oval frames.

(45,251 posts)of breaking the law into some members of the public. At the same time, though, in "Hollywood," one could easily make a scruffy looking lawn or one adorned with plants that need very little water a badge of honor, the thing to emulate, like driving an electric car or a hybrid. They ought to be doing both. Maybe even giving a real estate break to those with grass free "lawns."
It's really amazing how cavalier people are about this. Then again, maybe it isn't.

(1,274 posts)Soon there will be a way to 'prove' Selleck was stealing water.
A state task force will look at equipping every new vehicle in Oregon with a Global Positioning System to record every mile driven and where.
When Selleck's water tanker has to pay its road taxes by GPS recorded mileage, then law enforcement will be able to see which fire hydrants it stopped at. There will be no "claims" or "alleged" when evidence exists.

(5,417 posts)Or did he hire a company to deliver water, and that company stole it.
If Tom was actually driving, or his company owned the vehicles, I would say he is responsible.
But if he paid to have water delievered, I don't think he is responsible if it was not paid for, the subcontractor is responsible.

(16,113 posts)It's important that the government knows where your car is at every moment of the day. Someone would call it a gross invasion of privacy, but it's okay, the government just wants the information so it can make you pay for all your traveling. They promise the data won't be used for other purposes and will be completely secure.

......Before filing the complaint, the water district tried to get Selleck to halt the unlawful water deliveries. In November 2013, Calleguas sent cease-and-desist letters to both Sellecks home and an Avenue of the Stars address thats linked to the property, according to court papers.
As recently as March 2015, the water truck was spotted filling up at the same hydrant and delivering water to Sellecks estate on four separate days, according to the complaint.
In addition to legal fees and investigative costs, the water district is seeking a preliminary and permanent injunction barring Selleck and his contractors or employees from taking water from the Calleguas district.
A representative for Selleck could not be reached for comment.

(16,296 posts)Cars in hours long lines to get gas, odd/even license plate days for rationing, dollar limits on how much you could buy, inflated prices. Well, John Denver ( who I admired and thought of as "one of us" filled up a tanker with capacity in the thousands and had it pumped into his underground tanks in one of his mountain homes. Made it clear the difference between "them" and "us".
