EMMC reaches tentative agreement with nurses union

Source: WCSH

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor says its reached a "tentative agreement" on a contract with its nurses union late Tuesday night.

The move could possibly hold off a two day strike, planned for next week.

The nurses were hoping the protest would force hospital officials to address concerns about what the nurses are calling unsafe staffing at the hospital.

The hospital has said staffing ratios and compensation have been the biggest bargaining issues.
