Gay couples ask lawyers' group for help to legalize same-sex marriages (Japan)

Source: THE ASAHI SHIMBUN

On July 7, 455 people from the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community submitted their human rights relief request to the association, saying Japan’s current stance of not allowing gay marriages violates the Constitution, which guarantees legal equality for all.

(it took place in late June). They tried to essentially get all the permits for the particular day it was going to be held to prevent the parade from taking place. The gay rights groups were able to go to court after the police said they couldn't have the parade and a judge allowed the parade to take place.

I saw an article in an alternative expat newspaper where a conservative pastor here in Korea was interviewed. I won't post the link because of the truly vile things he said. Korea has a long way to go as well in terms of gay rights.
