Trading in all securities has been temporarily suspended on the New York Stock Exchange. The exchange posted the news on its website, saying "additional information will follow as soon as possible." The halt began at 11:32 a.m. Eastern. In a statement the NYSE said it was working to restore trading activity. "We're currently experiencing a technical issue that we're working to resolve as quickly as possible. We will be providing further updates as soon as we can, and are doing our utmost to produce a swift resolution, communicate thoroughly and transparently, and ensure a timely and orderly market re-open," said a NYSE spokeswoman via email. Trading on other exchanges appeared to be normal.

President Barack Obama has been told by advisers there is no indication there were "malicious actors" involved in the New York Stock Exchange trading halt, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said. The halt began on the exchange at 11:32 a.m. Eastern time. Earlier Wednesday, a Treasury official said the agency is working with the Securities and Exchange Commission on the matter. The official said it is primarily a matter for the SEC and the NYSE.

We’re experiencing a technical issue that we’re working to resolve as quickly as possible.
We're doing our utmost to produce a swift resolution & will be providing further updates as soon as we can.

The issue we are experiencing is an internal technical issue and is not the result of a cyber breach.
We chose to suspend trading on NYSE to avoid problems arising from our technical issue.
NYSE-listed securities continue to trade unaffected on other market centers.

New York Stock Exchange Reopens After Tech Glitch
Trading on the New York Stock Exchange resumed at mid-afternoon Wednesday after being halted for more than three hours by a technical issue.

There was still no explanation for what caused the suspension of trading from 11:32 a.m. until 3:10 p.m. ET. Earlier, the NYSE took to Twitter to assure the public that the shutdown was not caused by a cyberattack.

There's also N. Korea, Iran, or just a group of malintended hackers somewhere.

United Airlines: just a worldwide computer system with known weaknesses.

WSJ and NYSE, I wonder if it's something like a cyber worm spreading as data is exchanged.

If this isn't proof that Oswald faked the moon-landings, I don't what is. Impossible that more than three computer systems in the US can go down simultaneously on any given day. It's never happened before. Must be something more to it... or I simply don't know what I'm talking about (which is much more likely).
