Russian, Iranian Ministers at Nuclear Talks: Don’t Threaten Us

Source: Bloomberg

As Iran nuclear talks miss deadline after deadline, frustrations boiled over into a decidedly undiplomatic confrontation, with the foreign ministers of Iran and Russia telling a high-ranking Western official to lay off the “threats.”

To all appearances, the meeting on Monday evening at the Palais Coburg, the luxury hotel hosting the talks in Vienna, began happily enough. In a photograph posted on Twitter by the spokeswoman for Federica Mogherini, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, several of the ministers and negotiators are smiling for the camera.

Yet according to Russia’s state-run news service RIA Novosti, a senior official from the group of six world powers negotiating with Iran blew up during a discussion on lifting the United Nations arms embargo on Iran. The official told the Iranian delegation headed by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif that if it didn’t want to reach a deal, then the talks should end now.

Zarif retorted: “Never try to threaten the Iranians,” while Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov chimed in: “Nor the Russians.” Russia and Iran are both pressing to end the arms ban.

nuclear missile will look like in the skies over Seattle before it vaporizes the Space Needle and a few square miles of the Hill area, and changes this world forever.

Maybe big fucking blowhard U.S. needs to get it handed back for a change. Might do us a world of good.

Americans do not wish death and destruction on one another. Take your doomsday fantasy somewhere else.

hear them say it.

I wonder how ineffectual and broken one's ability to reason needs to be to think Russia would pay people to talk to someone this insignificant?

I could type it slower if it is not clear. But I won't be able to, since you have used up your lifetime allotment of my time.

Bye.

bemildref, I believe 99.99% of all Democrats would strongly object, as I have, to the statement: "Wonder what that nuclear missile will look like in the skies over Seattle before it vaporizes the Space Needle and a few square miles of the Hill area, and changes this world forever. Maybe big fucking blowhard U.S. needs to get it handed back for a change. Might do us a world of good."

I am a Democrat, been one all of my life, and you don't speak for me.

If you want to state your views, go ahead, but don't claim to speak for others.

"Retorted" is not a word a journalist would use.

Rope the media off. They are all like cattle feeding at the trough of clickbait and the prospect of unlimited campaign ad money.
