It's official: US Rep. Alan Grayson was never married

Mike Schneider, Associated Press

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — It's official. U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson's 25-year marriage never happened.

A Florida judge on Tuesday annulled the marriage of the Democratic U.S. Senate candidate and Lolita Grayson.

Judge Bob LeBlanc's two-page order said the marriage is void since Lolita Grayson was married to another man at the time of her wedding to Alan Grayson in 1990.

The judge dismissed Lolita Grayson's divorce petition but retained jurisdiction on other matters.

Probable Senate candidate Alan Grayson faces hedge fund questions

Kirby Wilson, Times Staff Writer
Thursday, June 11, 2015 10:53am

With U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson looking increasingly likely to run for U.S. Senate, he can expect to face questions about his Cayman Island hedge funds.

For starters: Why would a populist Democrat critical of the tax breaks for the rich and offshore tax havens set up investment funds in the Cayman Islands, the notorious offshore tax refuge?

And who are his investors?

~ snip ~

But something else struck Nichols as strange. Why would Grayson set up a Cayman Island fund with no investors, no investments and no future plans to acquire any investors?

And as long as it is how it is, he doesn't really have a legal or (IMO) moral obligation to avoid using the existing loopholes.

Grayson created the Cayman island fund for possible foreign investors that as yet don't even exist. His principal hedge fund is incorporated in Delaware and is fully subject to US taxes.
