Reid raps Republicans over response to Trump comments

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid is attacking Republicans for their response to billionaire GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump. Reid says Republicans have jumped all over Trump's comments on Sen. John McCain — while staying silent on Trump's criticism of immigrants.

Reid says this shows that although Trump's rhetoric may be more incendiary, there's really no difference on immigration between him and the rest of the GOP presidential field.

Republicans have been nearly unanimous in denouncing Trump for suggesting that McCain was not really a war hero. The Arizona Republican senator spent five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

But Republicans were more hesitant in criticizing Trump after he said that many Mexican immigrants are "rapists" and "criminals."
