Hulk Hogan Fired by WWE Over 'Racial Tirade'
Source: Rolling Stone
UPDATE: Hulk Hogan has issued a statement apologizing for using "language that is offensive and inconsistent with my beliefs."
"Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it and I apologize for having done it," the statement reads in part. "This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise."
At some point over the past 12 hours, World Wrestling Entertainment began scrubbing almost all mentions of Hulk Hogan from its website: He's no longer listed as a member of the WWE Hall of Fame (despite being inducted a decade ago), his merchandise has been removed from the WWE Shop and a search for his official WWE Superstar bio returns only an ominous "You are not authorized to access this page."
On Friday morning, the National Enquirer also released portions of a transcript submitted to the Florida court overseeing Hogan's $100 million defamation case against Gawker Media, in which he reportedly states "I am racist, to a point, fucking niggers," and discusses his daughter's relationship with a "black billionaire," adding "I mean, Id rather if she was going to fuck some nigger, Id rather have her marry an 8-foot-tall nigger worth a hundred million dollars! Like a basketball player!"

(22,651 posts)true shit.
marble falls
(57,246 posts)but I am almost always unsurprised that the person who said is the person who said it. If Hulk hadn't become an "athlete", he'd be toothless and hanging around a garage with a Dixie rag on the wall and skin mags on the desk.
He used his freedom of speech and now he has the responsibility to accept the consequences.

(16,399 posts)It should be pointed out, he made these comments in what he thought was in private conversation to a woman he had just had sex with or was about to, and her husband had/was secretly videotaping him doing it, in addition to the conversation. Which husband and wife apparently then wanted to sell.
Hulk Hogan is a racist idiot, but the whole fucking thing is just sleazy as hell.

(57,246 posts)to confidentiality is he falling on with a stranger that wasn't his therapist, lawyer or priest?

(16,399 posts)It's still sleazy as hell.
marble falls
(57,246 posts)participant to be informed of a tape recording. But its a good thing this stuff comes out and a good thing the Hulkster gave what seems like a sincere and abject apology. It seems he has evolved his attitudes in the few intervening years since he made the outrageous statements.
ProudToBeBlueInRhody
(16,399 posts)I don't buy his apology at all. He was caught with his pants down literally and now he doesn't want to be seen as a totally bad guy. I have no doubt he would make the same statements/thoughts yesterday if all this hadn't happened.
But back to the original point, I really don't care about what makes taping it "legal" or not either. How anyone can sit there and not feel conflicted about how sleazy it all is beyond me. He was videotaped having sex with a woman and making comments in a bedroom. Hogan's a total moron for not thinking his sleazy skeevy friends weren't going to videotape it. The guy who did it is a local DJ with an unhealthy obsession with Hogan and other celebrities. The whole thing utterly stinks, and getting around all the legal mumbo jumbo any human being can see how sad it all is. All sides of it.

Before I personally would pass judgement on the man, I'd like to hear the whole recording, and I'd like to know where it was made, and whether or not the dude was high and/or drunk ... and I'd also like to know if the people he's close to have heard him speaking this way in the past ...
