Donnelly's campaign treasurer, Kathy Davis, resigns over Planned Parenthood vote

Source: Indianapolis Star

Kathy Davis, former Indiana lieutenant governor, has resigned as U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly's campaign treasurer because of his vote to defund Planned Parenthood.

Davis confirmed her reasonings for departing the campaign in an email Wednesday to the Indianapolis Star. She served in the volunteer role for four years.

"Yes, I have left my position as Treasurer for Senator Donnelly's campaign and yes, it is because of his vote to defund Planned Parenthood," Davis said in the email.

... Donnelly was one of only two Democrats to vote Monday for an unsuccessful effort to strip Planned Parenthood of the more than $500 million in federal funding it receives each year. Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia was the other Democrat.

I am personally pro-life, but I would not defund Planned Parenthood. I am a man. Abortion should not be an issue that men should discuss all the time, but 2018 is a midterm election and if there is a Democratic president, we'll see how Donnelly hangs on in Indiana. I rate that race as Tossup.

I expect the Republicons to be assholes. I expected George Bush, Dick Cheney, Don Rummy, and the rest of those clowns to want us to kill, kill, kill in the Middle East. My disappointment was when Democrats lowered themselves to help them.

The most important thing for some is to be able to vote whether it counts or not. The second most favorite thing is to be able to vote for a Democrat, whether he/she upholds Democratic principles or not. Anything deeper than that is too much.

The Club for Growth is endorsing this ass-circus
The Club for Growth announced Thursday it's backing Rep. Marlin Stutzman, one of three major candidates seeking the GOP nomination.

In case you have forgotten what makes him such a knob who opposed ending the government shutdown
"We have to get something out of this (government shutdown). And I don't know what that even is."

The Club for Growth is one of the groups that got Lugar pitched in the Republican primary for being too liberal

Instead of just talking glibly about how one person shd win some election, we shd realize that until we are able to verify the vote, the result of any election depends on the programming and possible hacking of computers. Nobody knows if the result of almost any election is valid as long as electronic voting machines are used and the result is not verified thru audits of paper ballots.

Nowadays any race rated as a tossup in a state where the vote is not verified can almost automatically be handed over to the Repubs. The exit polls, the pre-election polls, the exhaustive statistical analyses that can be used post-election will mean nothing.

Some progress has been made in fighting the propaganda but not yet enough.

To me the PP faux scandal has to be where the line is drawn and fought back against.

alternative to this DINO in 2018, when Donnelly is up for re-election?

She certainly sounds like one to consider: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathy_Davis

Donnelly should go, as should Manchin.

But I do not aspire to the philosophy that a DINO is just like a GOPer as too many posters here do. Not at all. Such persons are simply not realistic about what US politics is today and, in some states, it is only DINOs who can win or against whom no realistic alternative exists. The GOPer is ALMOST ALWAYS worse (Richard Lugar was possibly an exception for Indiana).

If nothing else, the "D" counts toward majority status and puts a decent Majority Leader in the Senate, which is a very powerful position. Do we really want to see a McConnell - or worse - remain in that power position?

In the case of Donnelly, Davis already has name recognition in Indiana so she - to my mind at least - could be considered a real alternative, especially after this latest antic by Donnelly. It's too bad that Davis wasn't the candidate in 2012.

I'm REALLY pissed at Schumer right now and just fired an email off to him for opposing the Iran Deal.

He is in thrall to the Israeli RW and PNAC - that's for sure. Hope that NY can find someone who can take him out in his next primaries and I will certainly be writing my MD Senators to oppose his candidacy for Dem leader. He is terrible.
