Ratings for E!’s groundbreaking reality series I Am Cait plummeted for the show’s second episode.

Sunday’s hour had only 1.3 million viewers, a drop of more than 50% from the show’s premiere.

I Am Cait premiered somewhat modestly too, especially considering the usual Kardashian clan drawing power on E! and the amount of media buzz surrounding Jenner in recent months. The series debut had 2.7 million viewers, then grew to 3.9 million with DVR playback. While time-shifted viewing is important, a big change in same-night viewership — like what happened on Sunday — still tends to give a strong signal of whether interest in a show is rising or falling.

9. disclaimer: I have not watched television in 25 years or so...

...and I've certainly never seen I Am Cait. But I still can't get my head wrapped around why anyone would want to undergo something like changing genders so appallingly publicly. Mind you, I'm not criticizing Jenner's gender choice at all-- just her apparent belief that the rest of the world wants to see her do it. Of course, the media are fueling that belief, and maybe some people do get out of bed in the morning looking forward to seeing her navigate through this part of her life in full publicity glare, but I just don't get it. A television crew and the resulting publicity is the last thing I'd want to deal with while undergoing something so intensely personal.

I just don't understand television programming, I suppose. Or the apparently unbounded need of some for "celebrity."

Like the rest of that revolting family, Cait is a fame-seeking waste of skin. I've never once gotten the impression that she's out to help anyone but herself. I felt like vomiting every time someone referred to her as an "icon" or whatever.

seriously, Scott's drunk/drugged antics put this show on top. He's especially "appealing" to the viewing public when he does stuff like drunkenly stuffing a $100 bill in a waiter's mouth b/c Scott wanted a drink and the waiter was told not to bring it.

Scott's got 3 little kids for chrissake.
