Feds indict 24 people in drug dealing, dogfighting ring

Federal authorities announced the indictment of 24 people who they say took part in a sprawling drug distribution ring on Detroit’s east side, which also engaged in extensive dogfighting.

The group used 16 different houses, most of which were abandoned and mostly in the Ravendale neighborhood, to distribute and sell heroin, crack and cocaine over the last several years, said U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade in a press release.

To keep track of their activities, the group spoke in code through cell phones that they frequently changed to avoid detection, according to the indictment.

And six of the defendants in particular would use those phones to breed, train and then fight dogs for gambling purposes, the indictment says.

they put them in a ring with another poor dog that they've made insane with anger.

My grandparents lived in that area till they died in the mid 70's. sigh....I hate dogfighters.
