Delta Plane Forced to Make Emergency Landing After Flying Through Hail Storm
Source: ABC News
A Delta jet was forced to make an emergency landing at Denver International Airport after it was caught in a hail storm that damaged its windshield and nose cone.
The plane was headed to Salt Lake City from Boston Friday when it was pounded by hail. Passenger Rob Wessman said passengers were holding hands and crying.
According to audio recordings of pilots' conversations with air traffic controllers, their visibility was compromised during the landing. The pilots landed without incident, Delta said in a statement.
One person was transported to a hospital per their own request, according to a Denver International Airport spokesperson.

According to the reporter, there is no access to the Internet from the cockpit for fear of hacking, so passengers were aware of the hailstorm before the pilots were.

(8,203 posts)I know that feeling - crying is an emotion that just comes over you...I am so happy they are okay - but trust me, this will stay with them for some time.and if they choose to fly on to SLC at some point soon..they will experience almost the same emotion upon landing...it is awful..I can still feel it - reading about it..even 5 years later....
ALL my best to all and their families....
