Source: Chicago Tribune
A man who entered a restricted area at Ohio's Cedar Point amusement park to look for a lost cellphone has been struck by a roller coaster and killed.
Police say James A. Young had just finished riding the Raptor on Thursday and jumped over a fence to retrieve something he dropped during the 57 mph ride. The Erie County coroner says it was his cellphone.
Sandusky police say Young was struck by the ride or someone on it. No one else was hurt.

I know if I was on the ride and hit him, I might feel better knowing he was probably dead before I came in contact with him.

(7,968 posts)I've ridden "The Raptor." You are pretty secured in with big heavy collar harnesses.
Definitely not my favorite ride in the park. It is pretty jarring with lots of quick turns and hard corners.

(15,265 posts)(I miss New England). After the ride I walked the in bounds path under the coaster to look for them. To either side of the path there cyclone fenced enclosed restricted areas that were clearly marked with appropriate warning signs. I spotted the hat but heeded the signs. I stopped by lost and found on my way out of the park and filled out a report that included my cell phone number. I replaced the phone during the next week. The first call I received was from Six Flags. I was thinking, great, they found my stuff. Nope, it was marketing call trying to sell me a seasons pass. I never fid get the items.
