FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — St. Louis County police are investigating a Facebook post in which one of its officers discusses how he spent his "annual Michael Brown bonus."

The Guardian (http://bit.ly/1LdORpa ) reports that Officer Todd Bakula posted on his Facebook page that he took his wife to a bed and breakfast using money earned for staffing the protests in Ferguson, where the unarmed Brown was fatally shot by a white officer last year.

St. Louis County Sgt. Shawn McGuire told The Associated Press that Bakula is a patrolman and the post would be investigated.

He also said the department understands the post is "controversial."

Unless police (and other racism deniers) have individual proof, they will rarely if ever call out police for such behavior.

Remember, it's just one bad apple!

When it is a part of the culture of that police department. THAT's what needs to change.

6. Some people's brains mature much more slowly; and these seem to like police/army type jobs

Anyone that can't demonstrate an ability to let the reasoning part of the brain (cerebrum) overrule the reptilian part should not be allowed to have weapons, should not be in charge of any law enforcement. Either in the US or anywhere else in the world.

There should be some fairly simple tests to show how individuals react under stress and make them wait until they grow up a bit more.

Yes, I've heard the argument that LEO has only a quarter of a second (or some other made-up number) to react. Probably 95% of all cases of officer killings are not dictated by this short fuse. Yes, if a criminal wants to shoot an officer they probably can, with intent. But these situations are not intent - they are accidental and have lots of distracting circumstances.

St. Louis County Sgt. Shawn McGuire told the AP the post would be investigated?

he also said the department understands the post is "controversial"?

I wonder what Sgt. McGuire's supervisors think about Bakula's post?

Will Bakula be reprimanded in any way?

I doubt it!

12. Result of "investigation": Bakula posted it and will be reprimanded.

Reprimand: Officer Bakula with willful disregard of his duties as a police officer, openly let the public see behind the blue wall. Officer Bakula admitted that he did so and understands that letting the public see what we really think is detrimental to the department. This letter of reprimand will not be attached to Officer Bakula's file.

17. He shouldn't be fired for a flippant and insensitive remark.

Instead the entire department should be cleaned up or cleared out for having a racist work environment that makes this kind of remark acceptable.

It's not the comment he made, it's the attitude it represents.
