Pakistani minister Shuja Khanzada among 11 killed in suicide attack

Source: Australian Broadcasting Corp

A suicide bomber has killed a Pakistani provincial minister and at least ten other people after striking a building where the minister was holding a meeting, local officials said.

The Punjab home minister Shuja Khanzada, 71, got trapped with several others under the rubble after the blast brought down the roof of the building in the village of Shadi Khan, located about 70 kilometres north-west of Islamabad.

Nobody immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but Mr Khanzada had been active in crackdowns on sectarian militants and Taliban insurgents in Punjab.

Saeed Illahi, the adviser to the province's chief minister, said there were up to 40 people in the compound when the suicide bomber blew himself up, causing the entire roof slab to fall in one piece, which complicated rescue efforts.

A Sunni militant group with ties to al-Qaeda has said it ordered the attack.

Lashkar-e-Jhangvi said it was in response to last month's killing of its leader, Malik Ishaq.

After decades of supporting terrorism in India and Kashmir as a pillar of its state policy, now the terrorists trained by Pakistani military and ISI have started a power struggle with the government.

I hope this accelerates the balkanization of Pakistan and reduces the power of the Punjabi military's hold.

Balochistan will be free in a few years ... I hope we support a free Balochistan. It will stop China's access to the Arabian sea and Africa.

The Free Balochistan movement has picked up steam in Obama's second term and is now being propelled faster after Narendra Modi's win in May 2014.

Both India and the US have one of the largest embassies in Kabul and large consulates in Kandahar. Kandahar is only 150 miles from Quetta, capital of Balochistan.
