Two suspects arrested on suspicion of murdering 17-year-old girl kidnapped in Germany last week

A 17-year-old girl who was kidnapped in Germany last week and held for ransom has been found dead.

Police said a body discovered near Meissen on Monday evening was that of the missing teenager, named only as Anneli-Marie R under German privacy laws.

Local police chief Dieter Kroll said two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case, adding: "Anneli was the victim of a homicide."

Those who kidnap and ransom people are vermin. I never realized Germany had such a problem with this.

They couldn't get €100 for me; I guess it's only unsafe if you're rich....but damn--killing KIDS. That's cold!

Germany has a long history of kidnapping for ransom.
In June, kidnappers abducted Markus Wurth, the mentally disabled son of a well-known billionaire, and demanded €2m for his released, but let him go after losing their nerve.
In 2010, unknown kidnappers murdered Maria Bögerl, a wealthy banker’s wife, despite the payment of a €300,000 ransom.
Jakob von Metzler, the 11-year-old son of a banker, was abducted and murdered in 2002. Markus Gäfgen is serving a life sentence for his murder.
In 1999, Bodo Janssen, the 24-year-old son of a millionaire businessman, was freed by a SWAT team from a gang of kidnappers who had demanded a 3m Deutschmark ransom.
