Ashley Madison CEO Resigns in Wake of Hack, News of Affairs

Source: Wired

<snip>

Today, following stories that Biderman may have engaged in a number of extramarital affairs, as revealed in those emails—ALM announced that Biderman is stepping down as head of the company.

<snip>

The statement didn’t indicate the sudden reason for Biderman’s departure, but it comes days after revelations of Biderman’s alleged infidelities.

<snip>

Biderman, a married father with two young children, had long insisted that he had never cheated on his wife, nor did he want to.

<snip>

It’s not clear why Biderman would engage so boldly in revealing conversations through his work email account—instead of using a private account. Any system administrator working for the company would have been able to access his emails and view the conversations.

Leaked Emails Suggest Ashley Madison Founder Had Multiple Affairs

A student looking for money and an escort are among the women to whom Noel Biderman sent dozens of suggestive emails.

Noel Biderman, president and founder of the hacked affairs site Ashley Madison, is fond of telling the media that despite the nature of the website that made him a multimillionaire, he has never cheated on his wife.

<snip>

And yet hundreds of Biderman’s emails released after a massive hack of Ashley Madison suggest that he has had multiple affairs, including one that went on for several years, and one with a Toronto-area escort.

In nearly 300 emails that began in July 2012 and only ended in early May of this year, Biderman corresponded with a Toronto woman. Many of the emails involve planning where and when to meet — usually at a Toronto hotel.

<snip>

Dozens of emails over the next few years catalogue Biderman and the woman’s meetings at hotels — the Novotel, the Roehampton, the Mary-am — and coffee shops, as well as the obligations that prevented them from getting together: Taking care of “the kids” and presentations for him; “studying for finals” for her.

He grabs the money before it is lost in ligation. Or possibly he will use it to defend himself in court.
